Context, challenge y objectives
La Goleta Hotel de Mar is a hotel rehabilitation project that has gone beyond the technical and structural fitting out of the well-known and representative hotel establishment in Puerto de Pollença.
It is, in fact, a vital project for the Cerdà family, a tribute to its own history and, in particular, to the life and work of Juan Cerdà, one of the pioneers of Pollença tourism, who built and started up the hotel in the 1960s.
Two years ago his family took over from this entrepreneur, who understood like few others the possibilities of that incipient tourist industry that today is the economic support of the whole region. For us it has been a very demanding rebranding and implementation project that we have enjoyed enormously together with the family.
Juan Cerdà’s personal history runs parallel to the history of the Port of Pollença itself and is closely related to the development of the tourist and cultural activity of the area that has made it the reference point it is today. Juan Cerdà built the building of Hostal La Goleta and opened it to the public in the middle of the tourist boom during the 1960s. Very popular with the Dutch, it was a simple, family establishment with only twelve rooms, where his wife took care of the kitchen.
He was a pioneer in visualizing the value of the local. He knew how to transmit and take overseas the love for our sea, our landscape and our gastronomy, and above all our so personal and authentic way of welcoming and attending to those who visit us, without hurry and with simplicity.
Naming and visual identity
The naming, the visual identity and the branding development made, distil that simplicity, that love for the blue of the Mediterranean and that sensation of light and relaxation that is enjoyed in La Goleta Hotel de Mar.
The project has also the collaboration of Jaume Vilardell in the illustrations. It was a project carried out in our stage as Mandarina Creativos.
